qantas points quest

An interactive game to explore the world of Qantas Points

The challenge

The Qantas Frequent Flyer program is the largest loyalty program in Australia and has recently grown to include a range of exciting new partners such as eBay, The Iconic and Macys.

The launch of the new Qantas Points website and Online Mall means there are now even more ways members can earn Qantas Points and be rewarded, but with so many ways to earn, the program can be confusing and seem overwhelming.

How can we show members how easy it is to earn points in a way that is fun, engaging and simple to understand?

The solution

Qantas Points Quest

We created an engaging interactive treasure hunt game that maps Qantas' key partners onto a fun and visually exciting virtual world inspired by retro video games.

The game invites people to explore the virtual world and follow clues to find hidden item that are randomly generated each time they play.

Each item shows one of the ways that Qantas Points can be earned - anything from purchasing Qantas flights, to doing their grocery shopping at Woolworths or even buying a canoe on eBay.

By playing, members discover the many and unexpected ways they can earn points and be rewarded. Plus - every time they play there's a chance to win great prizes!

The results

Incredibly the entire project came together in less than six weeks. During the campaign over 1.2 million entries were submitted, with the average user playing more than 5 times and spending more than 14 minutes on the page. There has even been a super fan who singlehandedly played the game more than 6000 times (all within work-hours).

Media

Qantas Points Quest was also brought to life across digital media, outdoor billboards and even printed on boarding passes - making it a fully integrated brand campaign.

Extension

Qantas have been so pleased with the success of the campaign that they want to turn Qantas Points Quest into an evergreen platform for future campaigns and initiatives.
